South-of-Fifth Has Undergone a “Mind-Boggling” 10-Year Transformation

Posted on November 26, 2014

In the past decade the South Beach neighborhood known as South of Fifth or “SoFi” has quickly emerged as one the most popular and expensive areas of Miami Beach.   What was once a blighted neighborhood has been transformed into a vibrant area that is the pinnacle of luxury beach living.MIAMI BEACH STRIP - with DDLLC

A string of luxury high-rise condo buildings now adorns the southernmost part of Miami Beach with apartments selling for record prices.

In 2012 one of the two Continuum towers sold for a whopping $25 million, the highest sale for an apartment in Miami Beach to date…however, this will soon be topped once the new luxury condominium Glass is completed – the Glass penthouse has a  price tag of $35 million.

Today, the streets of South-of-Fifth are lined with celebrity-filled restaurants and clubs and dotted with finely preserved Art Deco architecture.  The sheer speed of the neighborhood’s revitalization has been described by William Cary, the city’s assistant planning director as “…absolutely mind-boggling.”

At Dream Destinations we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to offer luxury vacation rentals in this vibrant yet laid-back neighborhood.
